Content aware cropping

Adding to an image with Content Aware Cropping

In this image, we are:

  • Removing the lamp post on the background
  • Deleting all the garbage on the floor
  • Adding some pixels to make the photo wide at the end of both side of the photo

Deleting the lamp and the garbage on the floor

  • Create a new layer
  • Pick the Lasso tool
  • Draw around the lamp to delete it
  • Go to Edit on the top navigation bar
  • Click on Fill
  • From the fill Content menu look for Content-Aware
  • Click OK
  • Do the same for the shadow of the lamp, the garbage on the floor, the electrical box.
  • Click on Deselect to deselect the last selection

Changing composition with Content Aware Cropping

  • Select the crop tool
  • On the options bar above, you want to uncheck the box “Delete Cropped Pixels”
  • You want to turn on “Content-Aware”
  • Take one of the handles of the cropping tool and drag it to the side ( a little bit)
  • Click enter. Photoshop will create new pixels to fill the new created space.
