Two baptisms from the same family

In the Christian Church, baptism is the religious rite of sprinkling water onto a person’s forehead or of immersion in water, symbolizing purification or regeneration and admission to the Christian Church. In many denominations, baptism is performed on young children and is accompanied by name-giving.

On this occasion, we had two baptisms from the same family in Montreal. One boy and one girl. First, the priest baptized the boy. As a photographer, it’s very important to capture the moment when the priest is pouring the water on the child’s heat. At times, as a photographer, this can become difficult because the family members would gather around the child, leaving little space for the photographer.

As a photographer, you have to take initiative and ask some of the family members to give you space.

After pouring the water, the priest dips his thumb on some kind of oil and makes the sign of the cross on the child’s head.

The second child was much younger.

Because we are still in the mids of the pandemic Covid-19, some people, out of precaution, are wearing masks.

The godmother lowers the child’s head as the priest gets ready to pour holy water.

She also gets the sign of the cross rubbed with oil.

If you are celebrating a baptism in Montreal, and you need a photographer, we will be delighted to be there for you.
